
Operations and Management
When you arrive at Camp Lemonnier, you will see and hear the vibrant operational tempo that exists here day and night. It is common to walk around base and see a wide array of uniforms from around the world, including the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force and many African militaries.
The Camp supports approximately 2,500 U.S., joint and allied forces military and civilian personnel and U.S. Department of Defense contractors. Additionally, the base provides employment for approximately 1,200 local and third country nation workers. The Camp is the primary base of operations for U.S. Africa Command in the Horn of Africa and is home to Commander, Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa. In all, we support more than 23 tenant commands.
